Just so Jen and I don't have to be the only ones to carry this blog all by ourselves, we'd appreciate at least a comment or two. (Hope I'm not speaking out of turn, Jen) What's up with the silence?
I thought I'd share a little piece of information that I learned at a workshop in December. I hope I can relay it sensibly. Only 7 % of communication is reliant upon words. 35% is the tonal qualities in our voice and the rest is body language and facial expression. Can you see why the intent of the written word can be misunderstood?
This really makes me think about how important it is to teach 'voice' when I'm teaching writing. (1st grade writing is such a crack up anyway--but you can already see how they are beginning to develop their own style.)
Anyway just some food for thought next time you write something.

I love reading these posts ... I check them throughout the day .... I just have a hard time coming up with anything to blog about. Who cares what I had for dinner last nite or what color I'm painting trim in my living room. Now ... if I were hanging with the young and beautiful, THAT would be something to blog about.
So Susan, thanks for the books! I think anyone would find your living room paint color interesting. You underestimate how dull and boring the rest of our lives are...probably except for Max2. Remember what it was like with teenagers in the house?
