well, mom, you almost had me crying last night

I finished Marley and Me. I had to put the book down and control myself to stop the flow. What really got me was the kids contributions to the funeral.

It was a great book wasn't it. I cried. I'm just sad that they cast Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston in the lead roles. (Sorry to the 'Friends' fans who think she's wonderful,) Not sure if I'll see the movie, although I loved the book!

Okay - have you two ever heard of "SPOILER ALERT". All I knew before I read this post - was that it was a movie about a dog...CUTE....staring Jennifer Aniston....EVEN CUTER.....and now - I know that there are kids...and the dog dies ....and there is a funeral. I just hoped the dog brought people together. So now I don't need read the book - or see the sappy sad "dog dies in the end" movie. I've had my fill - from "Old Yeller".....to "Where the Red Fern Grows".

I love Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston... I think that makes me MORE likely to see the movie.

It's just that I didn't picture John Grogan that way. Owen Wilson is the dumb blonde of the male gender in my opinion.

The kids come along pretty early, in the book anyway. You know the dog is going to die in the end because it's a true story, dogs have finite lives, and I don't see any other way he could have ended it (although it's not the very very end). As for Owen Wilson, I have liked him in things (a hilarious movie called Bottle Rocket) and hated him in things (stupid movie called Wedding Crashers) so the verdict is still out on him. Jennifer Aniston is very physically attractive, but isn't funny even though she is generally cast in comedies, and isn't much of an actor.

And by the way Jason, it's okay to cry in books. That's what good literature and stories are supposed to do. Every time I read The Hobbit to my 3rd grade class I would break down as Thorin apologized to Bilbo on his death bed. My class would always look at me, not sure what to do. That's what I explained to them.
