Here's an Interesting Holiday Thought

So this is something that came to me across the airwaves. I thought it was really interesting. I've already begun my shopping this year, scaled down as it may be due to the downturn, so it's a little late for this year. But I think I would like suggest that next year, we do something that makes a difference. Maybe we could go homemade next year and give the excess to something important. We all have so much, let's really think about next year. I love you all. xoxo

Hello. I have been saying this forever!!

Let's make a plan to present at our family dinner in December. We can have a few charities that we can vote on. We can pick one and then plan on homemade and can work the entire year on projects. Then we can give the excess to whatever charity we choose. Do you think others will go for it?

This year I bought some wallets for friends from an animal recovery center and that purchased 28 bowls of dog food. I would love that kind of gift.

Have I mentioned that I have suggested this idea probably five times? I don't know if everyone will go for it. I think it is a grand idea, but every time I have mentioned it, I am pretty sure to you, you POO POO-ed the idea. Why the change of heart?

Are we having a 'whose idea was it first' contest? You can take the credit. I guess I just didn't see your vision. With a year to plan makes things easier for me rather than just a few weeks. We can 'can' fruit, or make jam in season. We can take time to sew things. When we decide in November to change something this big, I don't have enough time to think it through. I like time to plan. I am pretty sure last year and probably the year before I suggested it WAY before Nov.

I am not trying to have a competition regarding who thought of it first... I just think it is kind of funny that I have suggested this to you more than once and probably to Kristy too and nobody appreciated the idea.

Just to clarify.. Next year I am totally for this idea!

I don't like the idea. Where's the commercialism? Isn't that what Christmas is really about? Rampant consumerism?

I hope that isnt your real account number displayed for all to see! Hello, Identity Theft!

No worries, we have enough jam in our freezer for everyone. Just tell me where to send it. Jason is right though, Christmas is all about buying things and supporting struggling toy and food companies by purchasing all that they have to offer. Show some Christmas spirit, sheesh!!!!!

Emily,

Just in case that was your real bank account #, I deleted the comment for safety purposes. Oh, and by the way, I will need your Social Security Number in order to....uh.....allow further comments from you....uh...yeah...that's it.

You guys are very funny. Jen - all the credit goes to you - Renee - learn to plan better - Jason - re-watch the Grinch cartoon (not the movie - it creeps me out) - Cam - please forward the bank number to me for further varification.

By the way - were the walets you bought from the animal shelter made from.....animals? Creepy.

No they were not made by animals. They just had paw prints on them. I do have my limits. And remember Ashland is the Southern Oregon center for PETA. *grin*

I am not a homemade kinda gal. If we're going to do this I would rather forswear all gifts whatsoever and then just donate the amount of money I would have spent.

Susan, you make lovely jewelry. You are a great cook. I think you are selling yourself short.
